CANDIDATE WHO SAID HE CAN’T WORK ON SABBATH QUALIFIES FOR CJ JOB

Justice David Maraga
Whenever we attend a job interview, we all seem to be an all 'yes man' just to please the panel. Given the question: Are you willing to work on Sundays (Sabbath days)? I am sure most of us will say a big 'Yes' just because we desperately need that job.

However, that was not the case for a Justice David Maraga. During an interview for the post of Chief Justice of Kenya, conducted by the Judicial Service Commission, the panel noted that the candidate was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA). On that note he was asked whether or not he would be willing to work on Saturdays if need be. His response got the panel by surprise: "It would be difficult for me to work on a Saturday" was his response.

The JSC has nominated Justice Magara for the appointment as Chief Justice. His name has been forwarded to the President Uhuru Kenyatta for formal appointment and thereafter forwarded to the National Assembly for approval by MPs.
6 out of 14 candidates had been shortlisted for the interviews. Maranga who’s 66 years old came top after beating 13 other candidates.

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy"
